Not sure if it's Ireland, but this session does remind me of an old movie (okay, so possibly it's an old movie remastered). How unfamiliar a very familiar place can be! I've shot at this same exact location more times that I can count and this session looks (to me) looks totally unlike anything I've ever shot here (specifically the family images near the middle/end of this post). Why? Because this family rocks. That's why. They were willing to go the extra mile and hike, pant and risk sweating. ;) ha!

Honestly, it wouldn't matter where in this beautiful world we were when we did this session, because this family has the coolest connection and most amazing children, like, ever.

I'm continually blessed to get to work with such awesome people. My husband Kevin has known this family for several years and has always spoke very highly of them. Just a few short years ago, this (very thoughtful) husband came to me wanting to surprise his wife by have their children photographed (what a man, heh?). Since then, our relationships have blossomed and Kevin now works for his firm at Crossbridge Advisors.  It's been a great couple of years getting know their family more and more and love being able to freeze such a sweet time in their journey for them. Take a peek!

What a quaint little town!

So I was about to drive down to photograph Extreme Home Makeover Edition around Clarksville, TN (Which by the way, you can catch on ABC at 8PM EST this Sunday, December 6th). Meanwhile, I had some beautiful clients from Cleveland, TN who was about to drive up to East TN to be photographed for their winter session. While talking we decided it would be the same distance for them to drive down Nashville way instead of Tri Cities and we were both up for something a little different. They've been to Leipers Fork several times, it was my first....what a beautiful, quaint little town. I could totally spend a week there. So much farm land, so quiet, sweet lil' old time markets and "trading" spots in town. And, it's right on the backside of Green Hills, Belle Meade and Brentwood. Can't go wrong there.

In spite of the rain and cold, we got exactly what we were looking for. Check it!

lil' kids | November 28, 2009
ohhhhh.hhhhooo..hhoooo nelly! Okay, the idea was pitched to do some good old time vintage nursery rhymes. Honestly, my first thought was, "great, this will be fun, they will show up in some gap clothing with a few books"......um.                 .yeah.                   .not really. at. all.

I saw these kids and *felt* like I was in a time zone. This is a classic example of how the clothing can actually "make" a shoot. Let's not get into the HANDMADE GOOSE! HELLOOOO!!!! Wow. I'm so completely blown away by the creativity and thought that went into this session, I'm just not worthy. Totally unworthy to take ANY credit for how amazing the pics are. She did it all. So cool. I hope as you look through it reminds you of old story books. It does me. (and how could you come close to going wrong with such incredibly beautiful subjects????)

Honestly? One of the funniest kids I get to photograph. Always makes me laugh to be around this kid. I've photographed him since he was born. They've just welcomed a daddy into the family and I am sooooooo happy for them!

You know how sometimes you meet a couple and they just really, really, really *fit*? Yup. That's this couple. They just do. They work great together and I love that they look like they've been together for years! Congrats and blessings to you!!!!!

PS, the last one will always be my favorite! ;) See you next year.
