Yes, I *do* realize this session is from last year and I've already featured it on the blog. 

Now that's outta the way. :)  

I just stumbled across this image again today and my heart skipped a beat. This is just the type of image most would overlook while sitting in an ordering session with us. Why? Because it gets overshadowed so easily by other images. (It didn't get past this particular client :) ) 

The beauty in this, for me, is in it's simplicity. It shows the child's personality and the gentleness of their relationship. His dad is handing him a little gift and the visual of his sweet nature is shown in his smile and shoulders as he receives it. It oozes sweetness, innocence and really gives you an idea of how big he is at this stage in life with his sweet little chubby arms and fingers opposite his daddys. I love it. It makes me happy. 

1 hour drive

2 hours of nonstop shooting

3 lovely little ones 

4 girls at a tea party

5 is the favorite number of their player from Virginia Tech

6 immediate children

7 minutes to get one good group shot

8 spins to get to the right "i'm so dizzy I can't think about being uncomfortable in front of the camera" feeling

9 females to get ready

10 times the heat we really needed to make this happen

11 children almost too big to be held

12 beautiful grandbabes

exhilarating and exhausting all in the same breath!

As we were planning for our session this year, Jen mentioned that she really just wanted the feel of this session to be "simplistically sweet". I love those words together so, so much because it coins what I think of when I think of little girls....you know, sugar and spice,  everything nice and all that jazz? 

I so enjoy watching these girls grow up. I've had the pleasure of photographing them since the oldest was just a baby. You might remember them from their last session on the golf course? Seeing them every year is like seeing family again. I love catching up and hearing about all the funny things they're into. Totally honored that they trust us to document childhood for their girls. Even more honored that they travel 4 hours every time they do a session with us. Precious people, for real.

Luckily, they didn't make me pose the kids, the dad posed them because when this little girl was just a baby they had a shot like this and every time a camera is out, they try to recreate that moment....you can tell big bro has been asked a time or two. ;) I L O V E it! Completely cracks me up!
