It's so cool to photograph history. The visual of a family tree makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. 3 generations is represented here and every last one of them are fun, FUN, fun! They're a hoot! We laughed and laughed (and sweat and sweat). They wore awesome colors and textures for this session. I believe that one of the keys to selecting wardrobe for a large family is to not over-think it. Go with a few basic colors for your overall palette and tell everyone to wear something in that family. It works!

We did this session in the grandparents backyard. Words (nor these images for that matter) could really do this backyard justice. It's magical. A little wonderland of it's own. If the folks at Pottery Barn ever discovered this place, they would want to do catalog shoot after catalog shoot there. Truly amazing.

If I could have a session like this once a week, I wouldn't know what to do with myself!

I follow this couple on Twitter. I must say, I do wish more of my families would use this tool about 2 months before coming to me. It so helps to be able to peek into relationships before I actually get to photograph. Neat!

This family is super-d-duper-terrifically fun and inspiring to be around. They not only know how to laugh and have a great time, they also have incredibly grounded morals and great big hearts for each other. Watching that through the camera makes for some seriously good stuff! It's fun to be around, too!

When clients feel more like family than business acquaintances, it's a good time all around. This family def fits that bill.  Watch this and see for yourself, you'll want to know them, too! : )

Visiting these 10 week old twins takes me back to vague memories I have of when mine were born just 7 years ago. I looked at them......

one boy / one girl
one fussy / one peaceful
one parent grabs one / one parent grabs the other
classic pink / classic blue
tiny toes, tiny hands, little noses and lots of work!!! But wow...how rewarding to have multiples!

In the moments of those first 3 months, daily...DAILY! I would think things like, "this is hard...will this ever get easier....will I ever sleep again....I can't do it....what have we done...I wonder if we take them back to the hospital, would they care for them while we rest a few days.....where are the pitter patters of little feet....this is not what I thought it would be". Beautifully touching mommy moments, heh? Sad, but true.

At this point in our journey, I can't remember feeling any of those things. It's like the hard times never existed. Unfortunately, the other memories are almost too fuzzy, too though. I have to work *really hard* to remember them. (I don't have pictures that depict these moments either.) Those little bitty hands that wouldn't even fit around the end of my finger. Those little noses that would completely disappear under the tip of my finger. Those sweet little looks they give you raising their brow and smiling when they can't say a word and the feeling of always wondering what they were thinking.

Ahhhhh. Ok. That's enough. I will not have another baby. I will not have another baby. I will not have another baby. Here's the precious twins 10 weeks in to their journey through this life.

So I gave her some! This post is loaded up with some good family lovin'!

How we met :
I was strolling around a trade show in Nashville back in January and a girl walks up to me and says, "Are you Tina Wilson?"...The rest is history. After the show, I contacted her for a get together here at the studio and she joined us, then booked a session with me. I was thrilled!

One of the highest compliments I receive is when a talented photographer allows me to photograph their family. What trust. Love and feel honored that I had the opportunity to document her first family portrait!

Tina, you know I love, love, love these photos. They capture such a magical time in our lives---one with our new, smiley, lovey, full-of-expressions baby. I can't capture the three of us together and am so glad you DID! Thank you over and over. We will cherish these always. In fact, Liam smiled and even laughed at some of them when I showed him the blog entry this afternoon. Just think how much he'll appreciate having these years down the road....wow. Thank you. They are so much fun ~ and beautiful!

Well, yesterday I shared with you the day that precious angel Piper joined us in the world...today I'm going to share the same little bundle all cleaned up and getting acclimated to being on this side of her mommy (and daddy).

Love the clothes and colors they selected for this session (...imma getme one of those dresses.) We photographed this session at the studio. Nice and simple. Love it.

Before all the goodness....just want to add this :: these moments are so, so fleeting. Look how tiny her hand is compared to her daddy's thumb!!! I can't remember...I S-W-O-R-E I would remember how tiny my kids were, how tiny their hands were, but I just can't.

Savor it.
Savor it.
Savor it.

And have it photographed....anytime, any age, any mood. Just do it. You will not regret the investment you make. Trust me on this one.
