What an inspiration this family is to me. 

She reads chapter books in the 2nd grade ..... and loves every minute of it. She and her mom do a daily devotion BEFORE school every single day, no matter what. Wow. That's a wow for me. I only have one more child than she does and my mornings are, well. This is not really about me. :) Very inspiring, though. Very. 

Her clubhouse reminds me of a lemonade stand, which screams childhood to me. I always wanted a cool lemonade stand to sit out by the street and sell delicious, refreshing cups of iced cold lemonade to neighbors. Mine looked alot like a handmade poster with lots of doodles taped to a card table. 

I watched this sweet little girl curl up in her chair and lay down and noticed how big she's getting....she almost won't fit laying down in it anymore. I watched her dive into the pool and thought about how fun it will be for her to look back on this image when she's 20 and make comparisons to how life was then. 

There are lots of childhood memories wrapped up in sessions that take place at home. Why? Because it's daily life and as boring as that seems now, daily life changes and we don't miss it or want to remember it until it's gone. Sigh. It all goes way too quickly!

She's got enough for all of us! I love the movement in these images. I love the relationships represented. I love the personality that shines through. And I love, love, love the joy that I see way down deep in this little punkin's heart! What a fun session. How incredible is this....when she grows up and moves away, she'll always have this picture of her with her grandparents!!! I love that. I wish I had a picture of me and my grandparents. I miss them so much. Tender, fleeting moments. <<sigh>>

Getting 17 people together is no easy feat! What an absolute treasure these images will be for the children and the children's children for years and years to come! We are so honored to be a part of capturing history for you all! 

So of course, we just went with that. ;) 

We went up to Roan Mtn. and photographed sweet little cookie while he was cooking, then when he decided to come out....we just went right back to the same place. 

Outdoor baby pictures are somewhat perplexing for me but this one just "fit". I couldn't tell you how cool this couple is....a set of first time parents and they let me lay their baby in the grass. First time parents don't do that stuff. They rock. I love this look...all the way through. Amazing people with beautiful spirits and a pret-ty darned cute baby!

.....with tons of energy! Did you have alot of cousins growing up? I did (still do, of course). One of my very favorite things in all the world when I was a little girl was when I got to spend time playing with them. I'm still close with alot of my cousins and still very much look forward to events when we get to see each other, catch up and reminisce about our childhood. 

When I photograph generations sessions and see a great big group of grandkids together playing, it makes me happy to see that those same bonds are being created in their families. 

I think it's interesting to watch how relationships take shape and see how certain age groups gravitate toward each other. But most of all...the happiness, wild and craziness, the bonds, the memories that they are making right now...every time they decide to get together....that's my very favorite. I'm so happy that so many people have the foresight to have their entire families photographed together when they are young or old. 

What a great visual story to pass down through the years.
