Last year we did a vintage nursery rhymes theme. This year, we went with *the* wood boat.

Such a great, great story behind this boat. I'll try to give you the abbreviated version and do it justice :

Granddad worked for a guy who bought this boat.

Granddad saw the name on the front and realized that it was made literally next door in the neighborhood he grew up in ... several states away from here. He tells his son and daughter in law how significant it is to him...reminds him of his childhood.

Dude sold the boat.

Granddad passed away.

Several years later, Erica (daughter in law) finds the new boat owner and buys it for Travis (son of Granddad) as a gift.

Are you crying? I am. I love significance. I love this story. I love this family.
(and I'm pretty fond of these images, too!)

I adore this sweet family, and these are the bestest pictures ever. And, dear Erica, you are a genius at coming up with the most wonderful storylines and locations for your shoots. Couldn't be more perfect. Love you all.
