Tina Wilson Photography's First Family Event!

Why an Ice Cream Social? Earlier this spring, I had a vision (granted, it was somewhat of a strange vision). Instead of driving along neighborhoods and seeing children play outside with their families, I saw garage doors open up and swallow vehicles. I couldn't stop thinking about the families inside being trapped in a box (their house......I warned you about the strange factor).

It makes me sad. It makes me sad that we are so busy with life that we don't often take time with our kids to go out in the yard and play. We HAVE to get dinner ready, we HAVE to get laundry done, we HAVE to get things ready for tomorrow, we HAVE to have really, really busy lives while our children miss out on ordinary play time in the backyard with their parents.

So, we decided to create a day of play where parents could come and play with their kids, share a little ice cream and be entertained. The overriding purpose of it all is simply to help families find a reason to spend time together.....and it went exactly as planned! :)

The weather was a little sketchy and did actually keep a few people from coming, but we were absolutely thrilled with the turn out overall. We had lots of dirty little faces and happy mouths eating ice cream thanks to Jolly Wally. We had a professional storyteller from Jonesborough Storytelling Center captivating the imaginations of the children and parents alike. We had follow the leader and exercising by the greatest Tanya Montgomery. We had children belly dancers (they were so fun!) who performed from Misfit Gypsies in Bristol. We had an incredibly talented and super fun band, (Jonesborough Novelty Band) who led the crowd in kazoo playing and lots of dancing and giggling.

Other amazing people who helped to make this all happen and we are extremely thankful for :
The staff of Tina Wilson Photography ... Jenny, Amanda and Andy
Reedy Creek Vineyards ... Mike, Kristen and Addison Reedy
Sound and Entertainment co-ordinators : Bob Christian and Julie Eldridge
Culligan Water
Krispy Kreme
Starbucks
Food City

Thank you everyone who came out to spend time with their family and us! We loved watching you guys love on each other!

Here are a "few" pictures from the event. There was no possible way to include everyone in the blog post, so if you don't see your pictures here, make sure to remember the dates we published on your reminder....you'll certainly find them there! Until next time....
